In a nutshell, if the Belbin report you have been given has not originated from a licensed Belbin online system and Belbin account, then it’s not legal. 

Such imitations (or those copied in part or whole from an early Belbin book) are often self-scoring and lacking the 9th Team Role of Specialist as a bit of a give-away, but there are other imitation variations using the name 'Belbin' as well.

We'd like to remind all Belbin users and enthusiasts: There is no such thing as a free version of the Belbin questionnaire or test for use by individuals or any organisation.

Belbin has already taken successful legal action in over 450 cases of copyright infringement and is now ramping up its global search and enforcement efforts.

Belbin has successfully taken action against the use of unauthorised versions by trainers / training bodies, businesses, educational institutions, and individuals. These versions are also very poor quality and compromise the quality, reputation and integrity of the Belbin methodology and its genuine reports.

Feel free to warn anyone that you may have come across using such versions, whether doing so knowingly or unknowingly, that Belbin is now actively seeking such users out to protect the reputation and legitimate business interests of Belbin.

All Belbin inventories – including all forms of the Self-Perception Inventory – are protected by copyright. Belbin does not authorise the reproduction, modification, or self-scoring of any of its inventories in any form. Any such unauthorised use constitutes a breach of copyright and will be pursued accordingly by Belbin.
