In2Teams – A New Belbin System Feature

In2Teams is an exciting new feature within the Belbin online platform that enables account holders to create teams based on Belbin data. With just a few clicks, you can form balanced, random, or even deliberately unbalanced teams from any cohort within your account.

​

To get started, simply select the ‘In2Teams’ tab from the report options in ‘Generate Other Belbin Reports’. Choose the cohort you’d like to work with, specify your desired team sizes, and then decide whether to generate balanced, unbalanced, or random teams.

​

Once created, each team is displayed at a glance, complete with a snapshot of its average team role composition. You also have the option to generate detailed team reports, offering deeper insights into potential strengths and weaknesses.

This feature provides an excellent starting point for building teams around Belbin profiles. Once the teams are generated, you can easily adjust individuals between groups on-screen to account for practical considerations such as eligibility or functional requirements.

Balanced teams help illustrate the benefits of diversity in team role behaviours.

Unbalanced teams are ideal for problem-solving exercises or simulations where showcasing the biases and challenges that emerge when certain behaviours dominate is needed.

Random teams can be generated for variety, but the most valuable application of this tool is to explore team compositions based on Belbin styles and required team sizes.

Of course, other workplace or technical factors may influence the final configuration, but In2Teams offers a powerful foundation for creating effective, well-balanced combinations.
